Frequently Asked Questions

Most golfers who come to us feel this way because they’ve tried symptom-focused care and are tired of chasing short-term fixes. We take a root-cause, movement-based approach to identify what’s actually driving your pain and build a plan that helps you become more independent, resilient, and confident in the way you feel, move, and play — on the course and in life.
-
We focus on long-term solutions, not quick fixes. We don’t offer one-off sessions; instead, we work through structured care plans designed to identify and address the underlying causes of pain while helping you build the independence to maintain results on your own.

I actually don’t offer lessons, but sessions!
Here’s the difference…
What I do focuses more on helping golfers move better so they can access the positions their swing coach wants them in. I figure out what your underlying physical limitations and movement patterns are that are contributing to why you move and swing the way you do, pain or no pain, and then put a plan in place to address those.
Yes, we work on swing mechanics, but through a different lens and approach.
If that’s something you’re interested in, feel free to reach out or let me know, happy to share how the process works!
If you’re looking solely for golf lessons, I have recommendations depending upon location and teaching style if needed…

Yes. Every session is one-on-one and conducted entirely by Dr. Michael. Your care is never delegated to aides or assistants, allowing for consistency, attention to detail, and a truly individualized experience.

No. Rhode Island is a direct access state, meaning you can begin physical therapy without a prescription or referral.
Under Rhode Island law, a referral is required after 90 days for the same episode of care. In our model, care often extends beyond 90 days not because of frequent weekly visits, but because we intentionally space sessions out and emphasize independence, self-management, and long-term progress. If a referral is needed at that point, we’ll guide you through the process so there’s no disruption to your care.
-
No. We are a cash-based, out-of-network practice by design. Our model is intentionally different from traditional insurance-based physical therapy, allowing us to spend more time with you, individualize your care, and build a plan around how you move, swing, and live—not insurance-driven visit limits or reimbursement rules. The result is a higher level of care and experience focused on long-term results. Many clients also choose to submit receipts for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
-
Reimbursement varies by plan and depends on your out-of-network physical therapy benefits. We can provide a detailed receipt (superbill) with treatment codes that you can submit directly to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Many clients also choose to use HSA or FSA funds for our services.

The No Surprises Act is a federal law that requires healthcare providers to give self-pay clients a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs upon request. Before starting care, we’ll provide an estimate based on your evaluation findings and recommended plan of care so you have clear expectations upfront.
